He attended The Ohio State University, earning his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Education in 1998 and 1999, respectively. He spent three years teaching high school agriculture for Archbold Area Schools in northwest Ohio before returning to college to complete his Ph.D. in Agricultural Education from the University of Missouri in 2005.
